Give the Gift of Life by Donating Blood

One way for atheists, humanists and freethinkers to take part in a positive response to the National Day of Prayer is to hold a blood drive. An event of this type can exemplify the positive actions that we atheists, humanists and freethinkers strive to make in the here and now.

To hold an event, follow these simple steps:

1. Find your local blood bank by visiting America's Blood Center or the American Red Cross and type in your zip code to find the nearest blood bank.

2. Phone the blood bank and make arrangements for a group donation.

3. Notify your local newspaper, television stations or other media outlets that your group will be doing a blood drive in honor of the National Day of Reason. Provide full information about the event, and the reason why your group is taking part. Be sure to inform them long before May 1st.

4. Inform us about your event, so that our website can publicize it.
