May 7th is the National Day of Prayer, and we have decided to counter it with a charity bowling event to raise money for a worthy charity and show that action does more than praying. The charity that was decided on via a poll is Doctors Without Borders which is a charity that brings "aid to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.
"MSF's work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics and impartiality. The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people caught in crisis regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation." - From their website.
Cost per person is at mininum $25, of which about 50% will go to the designated charity, however you can also opt to donate more. You can pay online via paypal or at the event itself.

Donating blood is scientifically proven to save lives, while prayer has never been proven to do anything in a double-blind test. According to Canadian Blood Services, a single donation may save three lives. We anticipate between 20 and 30 donors, which means that we have the potential to save up to 90 people, while kneeling whiles one's hands clench will save exactly zero. We will be sure to post the final score on May 8th.
