Day of Reason Rally Planned The Pennsylvania Nonbelievers, a York County-based organization of atheists, agnostics, freethinkers and secular humanists, will gather for a National Day of Reason rally 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The event will immediately follow the traditional Christian-organized National Day of Prayer ceremonies on the Pennsylvania Capitol steps. Steve Neubauer, president of the group, said the rally gives those who do not believe in God equal opportunity and visibility in front of the Capitol. Neubauer said the group rejects the idea that prayer is an effective method of influencing the course of the nation and the Commonwealth. The group said they have also asked Gov. Ed Rendell to issue a Day of Reason proclamation paralleling the Day of Prayer proclamation he recently signed. For details about the rally, call Carl Silverman at 730-8716.
