Aid for Friends is located in northeast Philly and has been delivering meals to over 3,200 frail, elderly and disabled people in the Greater Philadelphia Region since 1974. Volunteers make the meals in their homes/churches, then deliver them frozen to AFF. Volunteers then come in and take 7 meals to the shut-ins once a week. These meals allow the clients to remain in their own homes and apartments and not in nursing homes.
We are asking everyone to join us in this huge endeavor. Come to the Society at 1903 S. Rittenhouse Square on May 3rd at 4:00 to help us prepare the trays of food. For details, please contact us at office@phillyethics.org or at 215-735-3456.

Counter the "Day of Prayer" with Positive Action! Donate Blood! If you decry the so-called "National Day of Prayer" as a forced encroachment of religion into our official calendar, join us, the Center for Atheism (CFA) in celebrating the supremacy of reason by donating blood on 4 May 2006 in a nationwide program. Blood is a simple way that any secular person can observe the Day of Reason in a positive way. Everyone can take part: There is no marching or picketing, no placards to make or carry, no permit is necessary, there is no confrontation with authorities or the religious community. We call our blood donation program B.L.O.O.D., an acronym for Benefiting Lives Of Others Donations, and we intend to do it every year on the Day of Reason.

To start your own B.L.O.O.D. program, it's simple. Here's what you do: 1) Find your local blood bank. 2) Phone the blood bank to make arrangements for a group donation. 3) Notify your local newspaper, TV and other media that your group is doing this and why. It's simple, it's positive, it's effective. Join us in our Positive Protest against the Day of Prayer!
